The Community First Kit – Atletico Ottawa’s 2024 Primary Jersey

Atlético Ottawa has today released its primary jersey for the 2024 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season, The ‘Community First’ Kit. The launch marks the beginning of a new campaign, alongside front-of-shirt sponsor Maple Lodge Farms and the Caldwell Family Centre, aimed at tackling the ongoing food insecurity crisis in the nation’s capital. This jersey battles food insecurity. For every jersey sold, Maple Lodge Farms will donate a case of their delicious chicken products to our community food centre partners, starting with the Caldwell Family Centre. This will mean enough food to provide dinner to 30 people, or six Ottawa families, every time a 2024 Primary Jersey is purchased.

“We are incredibly proud to unveil our 2024 Primary Jersey, not just as a symbol of our club’s identity on the field, but as a real measure of Atlético’s continued support in the community,” said Fernando López, CEO, Atlético Ottawa. “Through our partnership with Canadian Premier League sponsors, Maple Lodge Farms, and the Caldwell Family Centre, each jersey sold directly contributes to fighting hunger in Ottawa.”

He added: “This initiative embodies our commitment to making a meaningful difference beyond the pitch, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to impact lives in our nation’s capital positively.”

“I feel so much pride in being part of a partnership to address the food insecurity crisis in Ottawa,” said Eugene Williams, Executive Director, Caldwell Family Centre. “We are very excited to be part of this initiative with Maple Lodge Farms as we are going to be able to help hundreds, if not thousands of families who are currently experiencing food insecurity in Ottawa. When I come to TD Pace this season, and I see the players and the fans wearing this jersey, it will make me feel so grateful for the support of a community-focused club like Atlético Ottawa who aren’t just talking about tackling food insecurity. They are doing something about it.”

Maple Lodge Farms has been the Official Food Protein Partner of the Canadian Premier League since November 2022, and has its logo proudly displayed on the front of Atleti kits for the first time during the 2023 CPL season. A family-owned company and Canada’s largest independently-owned poultry processor, Maple Lodge Farms is proud to help fuel Canada’s elite soccer players and their fans, just as the company has fueled Canadian families with high-quality chicken products for more than six decades.

With today’s campaign launch, Maple Lodge Farms is furthering its long-standing commitment to fuelling Canadian communities.

“We at Maple Lodge Farms are honoured to be part of this impactful initiative with Atlético Ottawa and the Canadian Premier League,” said Fred Marques, COO, Maple Lodge Farms. “Our commitment to community welfare goes beyond providing quality food products; it’s about nourishing families and fostering a sense of unity and support. As champions of food security, we proudly proclaim: ‘We feed Canadians.’ Through our partnership, we aim to address food insecurity head-on hand in hand with Atlético, ensuring that every jersey sold translates into tangible meals for those in need. Together, we can make a significant difference to the lives of Ottawa residents, and we’re proud to be part of this meaningful endeavour.”

Atlético Ottawa provided early access to the 2024 Primary Jersey at an exclusive event for Season Seat Members, hosted on Sunday, 25 February at the Caldwell Family Centre. Supporters turned out in large numbers to provide financial contributions to the centre, non-perishable food donations as well as to buy the jersey and help tackle hunger in Ottawa (1,000+ meals donated already) before it was officially revealed on CTV Morning Live today.
