We love our city. We love our fans. And we love soccer. And WE REALLY love when those things combine. We got a taste of how popular soccer is in our city when 15,000 fans showed up to the 2022 CPL Final. We got another taste of the beautiful game growing in the region when the Canadian Men’s National Team played their matches in Qatar World Cup. Bars and pubs were full with viewing parties all over the city. Canadian Soccer was the topic of conversation. It was ‘can’t miss’ television!
There are great soccer stories all around us in the region and our goal is to tell those stories all season long, starting with Soccerlude. So here’s what you can expect from Jan 26 to Feb 3, as we aim to share and post many soccer-infused pieces with Ottawa connections:

- The growth of women’s soccer. With the World Cup coming soon to Australia, the Canadian Women are poised to make a big splash… again! An immensely talented roster surely have eyes on the top prize. We spoke with the StepOver Podcast to share their opinion on all things Canadian Women’s footy.
- Jonathan David is one of the best players in League 1 in France. Did you know he is from Ottawa? Did you know he got his start with one of our Powered by Clubs – Gloucester Dragons? We compile a list of many other things you may not have known about the Ice-Man and his record-breaking year.
