Atlético Ottawa Welcomes Seaway Valley Soccer Club to Powered By Program

We are thrilled to announce that Seaway Valley Soccer Club has joined Atlético Ottawa’s Powered By Program as we continue to strengthen our mission to grow soccer at the grassroots level in the Capital Region and beyond.

Seaway Valley Soccer Club, officially founded in 2008 with minor soccer association roots as far back as 1974, is a not-for-profit organization that provides soccer opportunities to individuals of all ages and skill levels. Based in Cornwall, Ontario, the club has established itself as a community-focused organization, committed to the development of players and coaches while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. The club’s ethos aligns perfectly with Atlético Ottawa’s values of community, growth, and inclusivity.

CEO Fernando López stated his excitement about the continuous growth of the Powered By Program, which he believes connects surrounding communities and offers access to high-level training for aspiring soccer players. “Atlético is committed to the growth of soccer at the grassroots level in Canada, and this program is a testament to that. Our goal is to provide a platform for players and clubs to develop and showcase their talents to the highest level, while contributing to the development of Canadian soccer as a whole.”

By joining the Powered By Clubs Program, Seaway Valley Soccer Club will gain access to Atlético Ottawa’s extensive network, providing additional resources and expertise to support their growth and development. This partnership will also provide opportunities for players to showcase their talents in front of professional coaches, potentially opening doors for advancement to higher levels of competition.

Atlético Ottawa and Seaway Valley Soccer Club are already in discussion over bringing one of Atlético de Madrid’s highly coveted, high-level training camps to Cornwall in the summer of 2023.

Seaway Valley Soccer Club President Daniel Roy expressed his delight at joining the Powered By Clubs Program, explaining that it will provide exciting opportunities for all those passionate about soccer in Ottawa, Cornwall, and in between. “We are extremely proud to be a part of this program, and we are confident that it will enable us to take our club to new heights. We look forward to the opportunities it will bring for our players, coaches, and the community as a whole.”

The Powered By Atlético Ottawa program, created by Atlético Ottawa, in partnership with Atlético de Madrid and the Canadian Premier League, currently supports 11 local soccer clubs from across the Ottawa-Gatineau region: Ottawa South United, Ottawa City Soccer Club, Ottawa Gloucester Hornets, Gloucester Dragons, Russel Soccer Club, St. Anthony SC, Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club, CS Aylmer, FC Petite Nation, Association de Soccer de Gatineau and Seaway Valley Soccer Club.
