Atlético Ottawa signs Samuel Salter in landmark Canadian Premier League transfer

Atlético Ottawa has secured the signing of striker Samuel Salter for an undisclosed fee, in what is the Canadian Premier League’s first inter-league transfer.

The 22-year-old, who started his career in the CF Montréal academy, has signed a two-year deal with a club option to extend the contract into the 2025 season.

Salter had a stand-out season in the CPL last year where he scored 11 goals in 27 appearances for a struggling Halifax Wanderers side, including two against Atlético Ottawa. The Canadian forward has already 48 league appearances to his name, alongside three games in the Canadian Championship with one goal scored.

The landmark transfer sees Ottawa pay the Wanderers an undisclosed fee for Salter who had one year remaining on his contract as Head Coach Carlos González seeks proven CPL experiences to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

The Laval-born striker joins CF Montréal loanee, Jean-Aniel Assi, as an offensive addition to the squad. Don’t miss Salter in action at TD Place all season long by securing your tickets to join the Atleti Family HERE.
