Atlético Ottawa sign Luke Singh on loan from Toronto FC

Atlético Ottawa has completed the signing of Canadian defender Luke Singh on a one-year loan from MLS side Toronto FC.

The left-footed central defender featured six times in MLS for Toronto FC in 2021, as well as twice in the CONCACAF Champions League, before joining FC Edmonton on-loan ahead of the 2022 Canadian Premier League campaign. Singh played 24 times for Edmonton last season and was a stand-out player during a difficult and turbulement campaign for the former-CPL club.

Having come through the TFC Academy, Singh represented TFC III in League1 Ontario, TFC II in USL League One as well as spending a year on loan in Denmark where he featured 24 times for Bröndby IF, scoring three goals.

Singh was propelled into Toronto FC’s starting line-up in April 2021 following a series of defensive injuries. Despite a defeat to CF Montréal and a draw with Vancouver Whitecaps, where he scored his first MLS goal, Singh impressed and was signed on a permanent deal until 2025.

The 22-year-old, who has represented Trinidad and Tobago at youth level but his yet to declare his international future, is Atlético Ottawa’s seventh addition of the 2023 off-season and has joined up with the team in Madrid for pre-season preparations.
