Atlético Ottawa has completed the signing of Aboubakary Sacko on a two-year deal from French side Le Havre B. 

Sacko is a product of the Le Havre’s highly renowned youth academy, having joined the French side’s system on a five-year development contract in 2016. The 20-year-old left-sided player excels in one-on-one situations, both in attack and in defence, and has been a leader throughout his career to date as he often donned the captain’s armband. 

In 2022 Sacko signed for Le Havre B, who play in National 3 (Normandie) in the French football pyramid and went on to feature five times this season before joining up with the Atlético Ottawa squad during their pre-season camp in Madrid. 

“Ottawa seemed like a really good choice for me, it’s an intriguing project and just felt like a great opportunity to take the next steps in my career,” said Sacko. “The Canadian Premier League has proven to be a place where young players can shine and gives them a platform. Those are the footballing reasons, but Canada was also a very appealing to me as a country to live in. I’m really excited to get over there and meet the fans, I’ve been hearing great things shout Ottawa’s support!”
