- Born in Brooklyn, New York. January 2000.
- Moved to Ottawa aged 6
- Age 10: Soccer career begins with our Powered by Club, Gloucester Dragons
- 1 year later, joins Gloucester SC. Plays for Hornets until 2015
- 2016, joins Ottawa International SC – sets his sights on a career in Europe and turns down all three Canadian MLS clubs’ academies
- 17 years old, represents Canada at the 2017 CONCACAF u17 Championship scoring two goals
- Turns down a pro-contract offer from TFC before joining Belgian side Gent on trial
- January 2018, signs for Gent and goes on to score 5 goals in first 4 appearances (all off the bench)
- September 2019, Scores twice in first appearance for Canada
- Completes first full-professional season with Gent, scoring 14 goals across all competitions
- Leaves Gent in 2021 to join French side Lille for €30m, a record fee for a Canadian player
- Led Lille to their first league title in ten years scoring 13 goals in his maiden campaign
- Jonathan David visits Atlético Ottawa
- Instrumental as Canada qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 36 years
- Features in Canada at the World Cup in Qatar
- January 2023, became the first foreign player to score 40 league goals for Lille
