  • Atlético Ottawa fell to a narrow defeat late in the game, losing 1-0 to Forge FC.
    • Ottawa had eight (8) shots on target and created three (3) big chances, compared to Hamilton’s three (3) and two (2) respectively.
    • González’s side had more tackles (22), more tackles won (13), had more interceptions (10) and won possession more in the final third (5) than their opponents.
    • Captain on the day, defender Maxim Tissot, described the performance as the “best of the season” although it was little solace as Atlético remains in the hunt for their first win at home this season.
      • Despite an impressive attacking display, Atlético was unable to capitalize on its second-half dominance.
  • Club Captain, Carl Haworth, made his return from injury to play his first game of the season, coming on as a second-half substitute for Jean-Aniel Assi in the 70th minute.
    • Haworth had one of the best chances of the game but was denied by Triston Henry in the Forge goal.
      • Haworth had an expected goals (xG) of 0.3 in his 20 minutes on the field – more than any other Atlético player.
  • Forge FC remains undefeated in the 2023 Canadian Premier League season (4W-3D-0L) after today’s win at TD Place.
    • Second-half substitute David Choinière scored in the 91st minute form a tight angle after Atlético was caught on the counter-attack, one of the home side’s few defensive lapses in the game.
    • Goalkeeper Henry was the star performer, denying Ottawa on eight (8) occasions.
  • Ottawa is back in action next weekend, hosting Halifax Wanderers FC in our “90s Night” at TD Place (KO 7 pm ET, live on OneSoccer).
