Latest From Training Camp March 24

The second half of training camp is well underway and has been quite eventful. With plenty of soccer action scheduled, it was also important to find a nice balance of non-soccer related activities off the field. As this week concludes, the team will enter the final stretch of training camp.

The night before the next preseason match, the new guys  provided some entertainment at dinner for the team. Some players were surprisingly good, while others seemed to have struggled.

The team had a difficult challenge in front of them as they kicked off against Real Madrid Castilla, and included several young up and coming stars that have already featured and contributed to Real Madrid’s first team. In the first half, Atlético Ottawa demonstrated a strong defensive effort and held Real Madrid scoreless. Later on in the second half, Real Madrid would go on to score two goals and which ultimately secured them the win. Despite the loss, the match proved to be a valuable learning experience for Atlético Ottawa. By competing against some of the best young stars in the world, it allowed the team to use that match as a measuring stick of where this group is currently at.

The following day, a few of the guys had the opportunity to explore the ancient city of Segovia and soak in the rich culture that Spain has to offer.
