It’s been an eventful past few days as the team approaches the halfway mark of their time in Spain. With Training Camp fully underway, the team is making progress towards building their foundation for the upcoming 2023 Canadian Premier League season.

A lot of attention is paid to the on-field product, but it is also important to focus on the team’s unity off the pitch. The coaching staff put the guys through some team building exercises and the games got competitive real quick.
To start off a brand new week, the team headed into the city to play their second preseason friendly match against Atlético Madrid B. Their oppositions squad was comprised mostly of players from their U18 and U23 team with some of those players already featuring for the first Atlético de Madrid team. A strong defensive showing from Atlético Ottawa resulted the game ending in a 0-0 draw. After the game, Coach Carlos González, Diego Espejo, Miguel Acosta and other members of the coaching staff shared some nice moments with some of their former colleagues and teammates at the Atlético de Madrid Academy.
Key to mention that this was against Atlético Madrid B, many players that have featured for the first team played at least 45 min and the guys held their own. Remember, they’re near the end of the season and we have trained for 8 weeks.
