HAPPY PRIDE! Atlético Ottawa hosts official Pride soccer tournament

Atlético Ottawa kicked off Pride Month celebrations in the nation’s capital with an inclusive, amateur soccer tournament, breaking down barriers to the Beautiful Game.

Ottawa’s Pride Month is celebrated in August. With the festivities in full swing, we thought we’d take you back to last weekend, when Atlético, collaborating with Footy7s, hosted the official Capital Pride soccer tournament.

Over 60 participants competed in a round-robin tournament, with Ottawa’s Pride Hockey and Rugby teams (the Otters and the Wolves) making their way to a competitive final and the Otters taking the grand prize.

This project comes as Atlético intends to help create a Pride Soccer League, run through Footy7s, next summer with Ottawa being one of the only major cities in Canada not to have one.

Atlético’s community programming, operating under the club’s Atleti Equal Access initiative, is only possible thanks to generous supporters such as Yedoma Inc., Gabriel’s Pizza, SAF Performance and more. Click here to find out more.

Atlético’s next home match is on Saturday, August 31, as Vancouver FC visit TD Place (KO 7pm ET). It’s “La Fiesta” Night as we celebrate our Hispanic roots and bring a Latin-inspired party to Lansdowne. Click here to find out more.
