Atlético Ottawa says farewell to longest-standing player Malcolm Shaw

Today, Atlético Ottawa confirmed that striker Malcolm Shaw left the club ahead of the 2024 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season after four seasons in the nation’s capital.

Shaw was the last squad member signed in Ottawa’s inaugural CPL season, the 2020 Island Games, and was a standout performer during the first year at TD Place in 2021. The 28-year-old striker departs the club having scored 19 goals and provided five assists in 83 appearances (all competitions). In 2022, Shaw made history by scoring Ottawa’s first CPL playoff goal in front of a raucous crowd of almost 10,000 people in the semi-final against Pacific FC.

The Pickering native, who earned his first international cap for Trinidad and Tobago last season, is currently second in Ottawa’s all-time appearance holders (behind recently departed Miguel Acosta) and goal scorers (behind star midfielder Ollie Bassett).
