CPL Commissioner Mark Noonan joins TSN 1200 to set the stage for 2024 season
Canadian Premier League

With the Canadian Premier League’s sixth season kicking off on Saturday in the nation’s capital, followed by three other thrilling matchups from coast to coast, Commissioner Mark Noonan joined TSN 1200 in Ottawa to set the stage.

Noonan spoke with host AJ Jakubec on Monday about several topics, including league expansion, broadcasting, Atlético Ottawa’s statement off-season, what’s new around the league in 2024, and why the next two years are the most important in the history of the sport in Canada.

With exciting talents joining the league, several marquee players moving within the CPL to different clubs, a new ownership group in York, and even a brand new match ball — Noonan outlines why there is plenty to be excited about as the Canadian Premier League kicks off its 2024 campaign.

“This is year six. We’ve built a foundation, and we are still trying to build this beautiful house, which is going to take 10-15 years to complete, but the foundation is really solid,” said Noonan. That’s a tribute to all the fans out there who really care deeply about their club and about the sovereignty of soccer here in Canada.”
