Atlético Ottawa is thrilled to announce the signing of Canadian winger Jean-Aniel Assi on a season-long loan from MLS side CF Montréal.
At just 18 years old, Assi is a versatile player who can be deployed anywhere across the front line, but is most effective on the right wing.
A product of CF Montréal’s academy, Assi joined the club at just 13 years old and made history by becoming the youngest player to ever feature professionally for the club when he came on as a substitute in the CONCACAF Champions League against C.D. Olimpia.
Assi has already started to make a name for himself on the international stage, representing Canada at the 2019 CONCACAF Boys U15 Championship, where he scored four goals, and at the U20 championship, where he registered an assist as Canada was beaten by Guatemala in the round of 16.
The young Canadian’s ability to fill in at full-back, despite it not being his preferred position, highlights his versatility and willingness to help his team. Assi registered two assists in 18 appearances (789 minutes) for Cavalry FC in 2022, both of which came against Pacific FC.
At Atlético Ottawa, Assi will have the opportunity to continue his development and take the next step in his young career. The club is excited to see what the Canadian starlet will bring to the field in the 2023 season and to watch him live, join the Atelti Family today by CLICKING HERE.
