Today, Atlético Ottawa announced that Capital Rainbow Refuge, Capital Pride, and MAX Ottawa will be the organizations supported by the club’s 2024 “Soccer For Everyone” match, presented by Volkswagen.
The announcement was made during a press conference held on Tuesday, May 28, at Bytek Volkswagen in Ottawa. A fundraising ticketing initiative and a generous donation of $5,000 from Canadian Premier League (CPL) partner Volkswagen will support Capital Pride, MAX Ottawa, and Capital Rainbow Refuge-affiliated programming.
Additionally, Volkswagen has invited 30 clients from Capital Rainbow Refuge to enjoy “Soccer For Everyone” this weekend at no charge.
Atlético’s “Soccer For Everyone” match will be hosted at TD Place on Sunday, June 2 (KO 2pm ET, live on OneSoccer), as Halifax Wanderers travel to Ottawa for the first time this season. Atleti is currently top of the CPL table and remains undefeated at the quarter-mark of the campaign.
This is the first time Atlético will host “Soccer for Everyone” during the international Pride Month of June instead of Capital Pride Month in August. The decision was made following a consultation process with Capital Pride and MAX Ottawa to benefit the local pride community, which is otherwise occupied during a busy local pride month. Atleti is set to participate in the Capital Pride curriculum in a different manner, with the launch of the club’s first Pride Soccer Tournament, a charity event held in collaboration with Footy7s.
As Atlético Ottawa continues to chart further success in the capital, fans eager to secure their part can join the Atleti Family by purchasing their prorated Season Seat Membership with all the perks. June is the last month they are available for purchase, and you can find full details on benefits and perks at atleticoottawa.club.
