Meet Paula, an Atlético de Madrid superfan from Spain. In the summer, Paula was the winner of an “Atleti Experience” , a contest held for Atleti fans across the world to win a trip to either Mexico, Spain or Canada. When we asked Paula about the decision to come to Ottawa, Paula credited Ottawa’s rich cultural diversity and open mindedness as reasons that made Ottawa very appealing.

After picking up Paula from the airport, the next day we invited her to come watch an Atlético Ottawa training session. There she had the opportunity to meet our Spanish-Speaking players Alberto, Diego, Miguel and Rubén and chat with Atlético Ottawa CEO Fernando Lopéz.

Then came match day. It was also the debut of Wally The T-Rex, so Paula made sure to get a picture with our new mascot. Although the team did not get the desired result, Paula got to witness Luke Singh’s high-flying goal. Thank you Paula, Vamos Atleti!
