The primary jersey for Atlético Ottawa’s 2025 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season is here, paying tribute to an iconic moment in Atlético de Madrid history.

Three decades ago, against all odds, Ottawa’s brother club Atlético de Madrid won a famous cup and league double known as ‘El Doblete’. Here are five things to know about this season’s kit:

Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of El Doblete

2025 marks the 30 year anniversary of Atlético Madrid’s famous Spanish double, winning the La Liga regular season, and Spain’s cup competition, the Copa Del Rey. It’s the only time in the club’s history that they have won the both trophies in the same season, joining only three other Spanish sides (Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletic Bilbao) to have accomplished this feat.

Legacy of Giving

This year once again, our primary kit will continue to help the local Ottawa community fight against food insecurity. For every primary kit sold, Maple Lodge Farms will donate a case of their delicious chicken products to our community food centre partners, starting with the Caldwell Family Centre. Each kit provides enough to feed dinner to 30 people, or six Ottawa families.

Custom El Doblete Patch

Each jersey will feature a custom El Doblete patch, to mark the legacy of the infamous double, and help fans understand Atlético’s history. The Atlético Madrid squad of 1995/96 were often characterized by their mental toughness, determination, and willingness to win at all costs (in addition to playing great football). This patch reminds us of our unique connection to Madrid and pride that comes with sharing the Atlético name.

Design Inspired by the 90s

The kit features a two-toned striping down the front, containing a subtle chevron patterning which can also be found running down the sleeves, emulating the look of the ‘95 kit. The reverse side features a unique white nameset box, adding a touch of nostalgia, and the perfect way to rep your favourite Atleti player on the back.

Writing Our Own Story

The primary kit is an homage to Atlético’s legacy but more importantly is a call to action for our own players, and fans. A call for Ottawa to bring their passion, determination, and grit so that TD Place can become a fortress this season. Ottawa is ready for the fight, and hungry for trophies.
