TOTW — Week 7

Goalkeeper

Rayane Yesli (Atlético Ottawa) 

Yesli has now kept back-to-back clean sheets, making three saves during a 3-0 victory over Forge FC on Saturday. That included a critical finger-tip stop on David Choinière early in the second half to keep his team in front.

 

Defender 

Fraser Aird (Cavalry FC)

After winning the league’s Player of the Week last week, Aird was fantastic again to earn his side a point against Valour. He scored his first goal of the season, and was again the focal point in creating attacking opportunities with seven chances created on 12 crosses.

Noah Abatneh (York United)

Abatneh was outstanding on the ball in York United’s 2-1 victory over Halifax Wanderers on Friday — completing 75 of his 85 attempted passes. He was also excellent when called upon defensively, making two interceptions while winning three of four duels contested.

Amer Didić (Atlético Ottawa)

Didić was dominant defensively as Atlético Ottawa kept a clean sheet against Forge on Saturday. He won all six of his duels contested, while making eight clearances. He also had a team-high 80 touches, completing 55 of 64 passes.

Paris Gee (Vancouver FC)

Gee put in an absolute shift during the first Salish Sea Derby of the season, assisting on Moses Dyer’s goal with a lovely low cross into the box. He created two chances, and had two successful dribbles, while being immense defensively winning 11 of 14 duels and possession eight times.

 

Midfielders

Juan Pablo Sánchez (Valour FC)

Sánchez scored an absolute stunner to open the scoring on Sunday against Cavalry for his first professional goal. He also played a key role in Valour’s solid possession game, completing 27 of 32 attempted passes.

Vasco Fry (Vancouver FC)

Fry scored the winning goal for Vancouver FC for the second consecutive week, this time forcing a turnover from Pacific in the 85th minute on Saturday before scoring himself. He also made three interceptions and five clearances while completing 92 per cent of his passes.

Manny Aparicio (Atlético Ottawa)

Aparicio dominated the midfield on Saturday against Forge, scoring a crucial 13th-minute opener with a rocket from outside the box. He also won possession a stunning ten times as Atleti picked up a big victory over the Hamilton side.

 

Forwards 

Austin Ricci (York United)

Ricci scored an audacious chipped effort to open the scoring on Friday against Halifax. It came from an outstanding overall performance which also saw him complete three dribbles, and contest 15 duels.

Rubén del Campo (Atlético Ottawa)

The Atleti attacker has now tied a league record, scoring in his fifth straight CPL match for the club as he added a third for Ottawa in a 3-0 victory over Forge on Saturday. It came from an excellent performance leading the line, during which he had four shot attempts and created a chance. It is also his fourth straight appearance in the Team of the Week.

Moses Dyer (Vancouver FC)

Dyer was dominant in the derby on Saturday, scoring his third goal of the season from close range. He could have easily had more, with four shots and seven touches in the box. He also created a pair of chances and won five of ten duels contested.
