Kai’s Big Night! Saturday, August 3rd, 7pm

You know we absolutely love dogs. That’s why, every year we celebrate one rescue dog in a big way – to help bring attention to many. Below we’ll tell you more about Kai and Kai’s Big Night. We always look forward to this night, because it’s not everyday you can come to a footy match and see a bunch of good doggies on the concourse. Once again we are partnering with Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue. If you want to learn more about potcakes and how to help rescue/foster/adopt, click the EOPR link below.

Introducing Kai’s Big Night!  Saturday, August 3rd, 7pm at TD Place (GET TICKETS)

Kai is loveable and playful and up for adoption or foster. Kai hasn’t had the easiest life but he is here in Ottawa now looking for a FURever home.  But Kai is not alone. Many puppies and dog from Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue will be here on August 3rd. You’ll be able to see them up-close. Prepare for cuteness.

Here is Kai’s story…

Our handsome boy Kai arrived from St Eustatius in late January. He is almost a year old.  He is neutered, and up to date on vaccines. He is great with other dogs and very sweet, loving boy.

Unfortunately after displaying some lameness and pain in his joints, he has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia in his right hind, and a torn cruciate ligament in his left hind. He will require surgery on both his hip and knee. Despite how painful we can imagine this to be, Kai is still his incredibly sweet self and such a trooper. Kai’s Big Night will help raise funds for this sweet boy. There will be a jersey raffle on the concourse AND if you buy match tickets with THIS LINK then $5 from every ticket will go to EOPR.
Kai is in need of a foster home who is able to help him through the recovery of his surgeries! Recovery periods will be about 6-8 weeks for each surgery, so we expect that Kai will be in foster care for 3-4 months before he is recovered and ready for adoption. His recovery will entail limiting exercise, attending physiotherapy appointments (on Carling Ave) while he recovers, and practicing rehab exercises at home.
Kai would be best suited with a calm dog so that he does not get too excitable during his recovery period. A home with very limited stairs would be best during his recovery. He is house trained and working on being comfortable in his crate when he is left alone as he can be anxious when alone. He would do best with someone who is home often or works from home during his recovery. Someone who has previous experience with this type of recovery would be a bonus, but absolutely not required!
Kai is such a lovely boy, and while we are so sad that he needs to go through surgeries, we are excited to get him to good health and feeling his best!
