Atlético Ottawa has announced the signing of CF Montréal academy midfielder Gabriel Antinoro on a two-year deal.
Antinoro was a stand-out player throughout his time with CF Montréal’s academy, shining for the club’s u23 side in a pre-season friendly against Atlético Ottawa at TD Place ahead of the 2022 Canadian Premier League season.
The 18-year-old midfielder is fast, technically gifted and excels both in tight spaces as well as running in behind the defence. Born in Brazil, Antinoro moved to Canada at the age of 12 and was quickly picked up by the MLS club following a short stint with Lac Saint Louis regional soccer team and qualifies as a Domestic Player.
Praised by his former youth coach for his strong character and ability to adapt to new environments, Antinoro was given a chance to shine in an international youth cup in Italy (Viareggio Cup) last year where he featured for Bologna, registering one assist as his side made it to the quarter-finals.
Antinoro’s move to the capital demonstrates a growing relationship between Atlético Ottawa and CF Montréal with the highly coveted midfielder choosing to sign with Atleti despite multiple other options available.
