Atlético Ottawa marked its third-year anniversary with a special visit from Ottawa mayor Mark Sutcliffe on Friday.
Mayor Sutcliffe visited the squad as they trained at the Gloucester Dome on Friday ahead of the club’s anniversary on February 11, 2023.
To mark the occasion Mayor Sutcliffe proclaimed the 11th of February as “Atlético Ottawa Day.” The proclamation saw an amendment to the previous one, put in place by former Mayor Jim Watson when the club was founded in 2020, reflecting the club’s historic 2022 season which saw them win the regular season and host the Canadian Premier League final at TD Place in front of 15,000 fans.
Mayor Sutcliffe was joined by Atlético CEO Fernando Lopez, President Jeff Hunt, Spanish Ambassador Alfredo Martínez Serrano and Councillor Laura Dudas. The delegation spoke with the players and coaches, showing their support for the club ahead of the upcoming season. A fun day for the whole group!
