Atlético Ottawa has been drawn against Halifax Wanderers FC in the preliminary round of the 2023 rendition of the Canadian Championship. 

The first round of the Canadian Championship sees Atlético Ottawa travel away in the club’s third appearance in the competition. The match will happen between the dates April 18-20.

The Canadian Championship is a cup competition that runs concurrently with the Canadian Premier League and involves the 14 teams from Ontario (L1O), Québec (PLSQ) and British Columbia’s (L1BC) semi-professional first divisions as well as the Canadian Premier League and Canada’s three sides in the MLS. 

Last year’s finalists, Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC will not participate in the first round and will join the competition in the quarter-finals, whilst the winner earns a spot in the 2024 CONCACAF Champions League.
